Hillary the Hypocrite

Put me in the camp of those who implore Senator Hilary Clinton (D-NY) to give it back -- with "it" being the reported $800,000 that's sitting in her presidential campaign coffers thanks to a fund raiser hosted in her honor on 31 March in the Pinecrest, Fla., the home of a huge Clinton fan who refers to himself as Timbaland.

The Washington Post reported that this fund raiser cost $1000 to walk into the door, and approximately 200 people were in attendance. It was also noted that Hillary's husband, and former President of the United States - Bill Clinton accompanied the junior Senator from New York. (Just a rhetorical question, but is that really newsworthy to mention this? Is the inference of mentioning Bill's presence a way to show that he has given up his philandering lifestyle?)

Like you, I said, "Who the hell is Timbaland?" Timbaland was born 36 years ago in Norfolk (Va). His birth name is Timothy Mosley, and he has become a well-heeled hip-hop/rap producer and noted performer of the kind of misogynistic and denigrating lyrics that informed Don Imus's derogatory comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

As you might recall, Mrs. Clinton took great offense at Imus's comments, branding these comments as "small-minded bigotry and coarse sexism". In an e-mail to supporters, Mrs. Clinton stated that Imus's comments "showed a disregard for basic decency and were disrespectful and degrading to African Americans and women everywhere."

With that being said, say, the question of the day appears to be why she was down in Florida making nice to -- and pocketing big bucks from -- a rapper whose obscenity-laced lyrics praise violence, perpetuate racist stereotypes and demean black women?

Since Bill is such a music lover, I wonder if Timbaland and Bill traded an musical secrets while Hillary was collecting the reported $800,000 in donations?

I may not know the answer to my question above, but I do know this. If Hillary wasn't playing such a hypocrite in the Don Imus fiasco, she would return the money that Timbaland collected for her at this affair.
